The Boston Acoustics Recepter Radio Review.

The Boston Acoustics Recepter Radio is a fine piece of equipment.

I love their speakers and now I have a table top radio to suit, a great product from a great company. The amazing sound from this radio will blow you away!!

The weight of this radio is a testament to the sound quality it produces at just over 4lbs. As with any good quality sound system a minimalist style delivers a great look.  The screen on this radio is easy to read with a great feature to reduce brightness making it not so obvious on the shelf.

Tuning this radio is really easy with a good old fashioned knob to turn, you don’t have to fiddle with tiny little up down buttons. Don’t worry about programming this radio, it is simple and easy to use, my technophobe wife had it on her favorite station in minutes.

The radio comes with a simple alarm clock ideal for your bedside table. My wife loves the fact that she can store her favorite stations, and quickly swap from my rock station to her jazz one with a click of a button.

When it comes to a radio all you need is a simple interface, and thats what the boston acoustics radio has, antenna and mini jack thats all. When i’m tired of the radio or want to listen to a new album, I just plug my ipod into the mini jack transforming it into a great speaker.

One word of caution with the radio, it has a small battery that helps maintain the clock and alarm during small outages, handy for not being late, but it hasn’t the juice to maintain the radio stations.

I was concerned that with only having one speaker the sound quality would be poor, but the skills of the Boston Acoustics team means you cannot tell the difference. Compared to the Tivoli Audio’s Model One, this is a far superior radio. Having a deepness of sound and better base with a mid range that is very organic.

When in the kitchen I like to crank the volume on my favorite tracks and this small radio delivers. With a clean reception, this radio really can challenge digital radio, especially when combined with the great sound output.
