What’s kind of clock radio/mp3 doc sound soother is it?

Question by Lisa C: What’s kind of clock radio/mp3 doc sound soother is it?
I stayed at the Hyatt Wild Oak ranch a few months ago and I rememered they had a clock radio/mp3 dock and sound soother in one. I loved that thing! Now I want one for Christmas and can’t find out what kind it is.

I called the hotel, got transferred all over the place and spoke to some non english speaking folks who asked me to call engineering and they don’t answer the phone. Has anyone visited that resort and know the brand I’m talking about?? Help!

Which one of these amps would you get

I am assuming they are all generally the same and that I wouldnt even be able to notice the difference between them.

I am hoping the MB Quart is as good as the others since it is the cheapest

Best answer:

Answer by N2Audio
Like you mentioned, power-wise it’s about a wash.
I think on paper the RF is the most powerful, but that’s a difference of 5-10% which you would have a very hard time hearing the difference.

Quality-wise I’d go with the BA, but all things considered I think that MB’s a solid amp, and if money’s tight I don’t think you’d be giving up much going that route.

How can I get Internet Radio in the shower?

Question by Robert C: How can I get Internet Radio in the shower?
I want to find a device that is set up for wireless internet, is small, has a touch screen, and can be made waterproof – it also needs to have a port for a wireless speaker transmitter.

My plan is to hook it up so that I can listen to Pandora radio while in the shower and use wireless speakers. I am not looking for anything flashy as it will only be on that one website. I just want something that I can basically scroll up, down, and click. – I would like to stay as far under $ 300 as possible.

Can anyone help?

Best answer:

Answer by Réabhlóideach?Che
Get an ipod touch/iphone waterproof case stick the device in it then pop it on in the shower!
But first you need to download the app or apps that do it.
I recommend
iHeart radio
pocket tunes radio
slacker
pandora radio

What is the random, short, pulsing buzz from my radio when it’s off?

Question by : What is the random, short, pulsing buzz from my radio when it’s off?
I have a clock radio by my bed. At night, it will randomly emit a short, pulsating buzz, lasting no more than a couple seconds. The radio itself isn’t on and the alarm isn’t set. It’s not very loud, but it gets my attention. I don’t remember when I began noticing it, but it has been going on long enough for me to wonder what it is.

At first I thought maybe it was just my clock radio crapping the bed since it’s over ten years old. But this morning when I was watching the news in my living room, that SAME exact sound came over my Bose 3-2-1 system. I don’t know if this phenomenon can be chalked up to electrical problems or what, but if anyone has any insight or if you’ve experienced it, please share!

I don’t think I’m going insane ;-)

Answer by Yash
Old radios basically do not turn off completely….it still keeps on receiving some sound waves which thereby emits a sharp but soft noise..you can try disconnecting the battery

impedance and wattage matching for speakers and receiver?

Question by orion_962: impedance and wattage matching for speakers and receiver?
i am thinking of upgrading my speakers and the ones i am leaning towards are a pair of boston acoustics CS 26′s. my receiver is pretty low power (25 watts per channel at 6ohms) and i am not sure if that will be enough to power the cs 26′s. on boston’s website it says that the recommended amplifier power goes from 10-150 watts, and they are rated 89db sensitivity and have an impedance of 8 ohms. i am not super well versed in audio equipment, so any advice would be appreciated. thanks.

Best answer:

Answer by Maniac
You will be ok for low volume. The thing about music is that it can be very dynamic. This means you need a lot more power available than the nominal level you listen to. With 25 watts into 6 ohms you will likely have about 20 watts into 8 ohms. It takes 12.25 volts across 6 ohms to get 25 watts but with the lighter 8 ohm load you may get just slightly more voltage before clipping. At 12.25 volts across 8 ohms you get just under 19 watts. This is about a 13 dB increase relative to 1 watt. This isn’t much dynamic headroom for the dynamics in music so you will need to listen to a nominal level less than 1 watt to avoid clipping during peaks in the music. With 150 watts you would have 21.7 dB relative to 1 watt which isn’t bad. This would enable you to play it several dB louder.

Q&A: Suggestions for amps.?

Question by CaseyJones9535: Suggestions for amps.?
I’m going to be buying a Boston Acoustics G5 12″ sub,
and I’m unsure on what amp would be best for this speaker
as in which amps out there has a close rms wattage as the sub.
Also I’m going to buy some 6.5 kappa perfect components and would
also like some information on some amps that’d be good to power
these along with my kappa 6×9′s.

Thank you.

Could you give exact models on the amps?
I’m going to go with the dual ohm coil,
and for now just one sub,
instead of the kappa perfects,
what would be some good 6.5″ components?

Best answer:

Answer by Bradley W
You cant go wrong with kicker, soundstream, or pioneer. i would suggest kicker, but the are rather expensive…(maybe tried for used? – Craiglist.org is great.) But yeah dont buy a cheap amp. you get what you pay for and that sub needs a strong amp to push it.
